Kariyado is a major residential area of the town located west of Naka Karuizawa.  It is said to have originated as a "temporary" post town between Kutsukake-juku and Oiwake-juku post towns on the Old Nakasendo avenue.  Along the old Nakasendo avenue, there are areas where old inn-style buildings reminiscent of bygone days stand side by side, but in recent years, the area has been actively developed as a residential area.

The property is a newly built house for sale in a residential park that was newly subdivided the year before last.  Its construction has been completed in July 2022.  The house is available for use after contract signing and property handover.  The house is made only of Shinshu timber, and you can feel the warmth of the house.  2 bedrooms specification is shown, but the large room on the east side has beds made in the loft, something which can be divided to 2 rooms by making a wall at the center.  See the pictures.  The room may be used as a child's room.

The house is designed and being built using the “air-pass” construction method, which allows the building to breathe by allowing “air” to “pass” between the exterior and interior walls.  This structure allows moisture to escape and keeps the house warm in winter and cool in summer.  There is a breathing window in the attic, which can be manually opened and closed.  Please check it out for yourself when you are ready to view the house.  In Karuizawa, which is known for its high humidity, moisture control is important to ensure the longevity of the house.  While many house owners use a number of dehumidifiers in operation to prevent moisture, a house with the air-path construction method is a smart way to achieve this purpose.
