Oiwake-juku, located in the western part of Karuizawa Town, is known as an inn town on the Old Nakasendo avenue.  During the season, the district is crowded with tourists who enjoy walking around the old road district.
 
This property is located just north of the Old Nakasendo avenue in Oiwake-juku and is part of a quiet villa district.  It is a cul-de-sac and only the owner and the mail carrier usually enter the district.  Karuizawa Seibu Elementary School is located approximately 500 meters east of Oiwake-juku, walking along the national route 18.  This is a convenient location for families moving from out of town.  The site is currently a wooded area, but in the past, it is said that scholars mainly gathered in this area and built villas.  The area has a charming atmosphere that does not suit its convenient location.
