Kyu Karuizawa Yoshigasawa
|
Tohgemichi street starts at Kyu Karuizawa Ginza around Nitebashi bridge and leads to Miharashidai observatory on top of Usui Tohge pass. A lot of tourists come back and forth on this road to enjoy beautiful 360 degree scenery from Usui Tohge to Kanto plain toward east and mountains in Shinano region toward west now a days. Actually, this road and the observatory area was originally developed by a wealthy merchant of early Showa period (around 1920-30's) in Nagoya, Tomoemon Kondo, though it is not so well known.
Kyu Karuizawa Yoshigasawa villa district was developed by Mr. Kondo in a northern area to this Tohgemichi street. Currently, whole the villa land area and its water and road infrastructure are managed by an owner's union. You should feel somewhat different atmosphere from what you feel in other privately operated villa district in other Karuizawa areas. Most of villas and residences are built, aiming to keep green forest environment to allow villa and cottage owners enjoy beautiful scenery in this Usui Tohge area. It takes 1.4 km or roughly 23 minutes by foot to Kyu Karuizawa Ginza street from here. You should be able to enjoy opportunities for entertainment in restaurants and shops in the Ginza street during your stay. Will you start your Karuizawa villa life from here at the backyard of premium Kyu Karuizawa area? See also our other property listings.
